First Annual Walk for Independence Raises $82,000 for Project Independence
Project Independence’s first annual Walk for Independence, held on Sunday, January 17, 2010, drew more than 150 walkers to Central Park in Huntington Beach. With net proceeds estimated at $82,000, the Walk was Project Independence’s most successful event in our 33-year history. A special thanks to event chair Britney Dockery and her committee for a fun and fulfilling day.
Proceeds from the Walk will be used to install an elevator, donated by Mitsubishi Electric USA, in our new offices. Funds raised will also pay for engineering and architecture services and approval from the City of Costa Mesa. Adding an elevator will make our offices fully accessible to all of our clients—one of our major goals for 2010.
